I Can Too Youth Summit- Saturday, May 4th 2019- Kemeny Recreation Center
The I Can Too Youth Summit will be taking place on Saturday, May 4th from 9am-3pm at Kemeny Recreational Center located in Southwest Detroit. The summit will consist of high school aged students (9-12th graders) from the cities 7 districts who will all come together to learn about key financial literacy concepts in addition to learning how to goal set and being empowered to come up with some goals for themselves. Youth will also have the opportunity to hear from and pick the brains of people who were once in their same positions, but through goal setting and mentorship, were able to create success.
I Can Make it Too Summer Enrichment Program
I Can Make it Too Summer Enrichment program cultivates the development of youth by providing them with a 3 year, 6 week (4 days per week) experience in which they will have various classes on the 5 components of financial literacy (budgeting, the impact of interest, saving, credit and identify theft & safety), various courses/lessons in extracurricular activities (such as film, journalism, photography, graphic design and art) and various opportunities to attend local, state, national and abroad field trips (such as college tours, sporting events, museums and international summits). In addition, participants will have opportunities to apply what they have learned and participate in business plan and case study competitions for college scholarship opportunities.
